Indie Cuts: Other People's Lists pt. 1

I love reading other people's year end lists and I came away with some great discoveries of music I had missed.

Band: Helio Sequence

Why: While my initial feeling told me this band was too beepy, it was humorous that I was drawn in by one particular beep - one that must have been stolen from the sound of Mario skidding to a stop. What a deeply nostalgic noise that is. When I came back to the song I not only confirmed my suspicions, but discovered the greater sonic palette of this band, including an acoustic guitar that expands the entire score of the song. I then found other treasures, like the soft rhythm of a train in the background of the tender. They create quite a wall of sound for just a couple of guys.
